What is Pigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is initiated by excess melanin production in the skin. Melanin is responsible for the colour of our eyes, hair and skin. Sunlight exposure, hormones and medication can all trigger increased melanin production resulting in hyperpigmentation.

UVA/UVB exposure is the number one cause of hyperpigmentation.

Some hyperpigmentation can easily be treated with topical skincare while other types of hyperpigmentation require deeper in clinic treatments. Skincare consistency and compliance is key in preventing and treating hyperpigmentation.
